About

The Rise Above Convoy for Cancer Families is an annual event to raise money and awareness for Rise Above – Capital Region Cancer Relief. Every April hundreds of Trucks and Motorbikes take the journey from Beard Industrial Estate just outside of Queanbeyan and drive through Canberra to Exhibition Park, where the family fun day and concert wrap up the Convoy. The Convoy was started many years ago my Marty Haynes, after a short break it started again in 2013 when Scotty & Nige got right behind the Convoy and it’s roared into life ever since. In 2017 the Capital Radio Network became our major radio sponsors with 2CC and 2CA getting behind the event.

It is our biggest fundraiser every year and allows to help over 900 patients who are battling Cancer throughout the region.

In 2013 when the Convoy started again Enzo from Boss Haulage was Lead truck, in 2014 TJS Transport in Queanbeyan took out the top spot, in 2015 and 2016 Lead truck went to Holcim Concrete and in 2017, TJS Transport took out the top gong with a bid of $60,000, followed closely by Elvin Concrete with a bid of $58,000. In 2018 Elvin Group secured Top Spot with a bid of $67,128.49.

We started a Lead Bike auction in 2015 and that was taken out by Nathan Hayes at Gerald Slaven in Belconnen, who also took out the 2016 top spot. In 2017 the Lead Bike spot was a tie and went to Peter from Gungahlin Concrete and Nathan Hayes again. In 2018 Dave Millar from Ox Traffic took out top spot with a record $5,900 bid.

The Convoy for 2019 takes place on Sunday, April 7th, 2019 and we hope to see you there.
